Poseidon Books was
conceived to provide a service to authors who have not been able to publish a
book through conventional risk publishing houses and who are unwilling to pay
the large charges levied by vanity publishers.
Poseidon Books is an
division of Zeus Publications, a well respected, established bookseller and
publisher. We endeavor to make your job as an author easier, by assisting
you wherever we can to get your work out there. We pride ourselves in the high
standard of service we offer to our authors and
are many publishers in this country, each of them producing many books. Their
combined annual output amounts to many thousands of books. However, there are
still many more books written each year that never see a bookshelf. Even if a
publisher does agree to take on your book, the most you can expect in royalty
payments is around five to10%.
offer you a royalty scheme of 20% of net proceeds of sales of your book.
Without an established reputation, it is almost impossible to find a
publishing house willing to invest in your talent by financing your
first book. If one does, the terms are often so bad for the author or
photographer that profits are never realized. Some publishers sell a
book at retail until costs are recouped and then remainder the rest at
deep discounts. The author often never gets any remuneration. It is
a risky situation for both the publisher and the author. Once an
author is established, the risks are lower and the gains higher.
If you believe in yourself, if you believe that you are a good writer,
if you believe you can produce a book that will sell, you should
publish your own. Once published, your book can be used to establish
yourself as an accomplished expert in your field. It can open doors.
It can help garner prestige. It can spread your message or talent to
countless other people. It can pave the way to future publication.
Have confidence in yourself.
you have confidence in your talents and have something to communicate to
others, then let us work with you to make it happen.
Such well-known authors as Edgar Allan Poe, T. S. Eliot, Elizabeth
Barrett Browning, Lord Byron, Stephen Crane, Rudyard Kipling, Leo Tolstoy,
Thomas Hardy, Walt Whitman, James Redfield (The Celestine Prophecy), and
Rod McKuen believed in themselves enough to publish their own
If they had not self-published, perhaps we would not know their names today.
